A Month After the Election.

We are now a month past the November election and I think I have finally caught my breath. I imagine most of the folks on my email list are quite happy to have a small break from the emails that became a daily occurrence. Enjoy the respite as there will be plenty more starting next year as we gear up for the 2012 primary elections, but that’s not for a while.

I wanted to thank all the candidates for their hard work and dedication. Whether they won on Election Day or not, they should all be proud as they worked extremely hard and made a real difference in the political framework of Milam County.

Running for office is an incredibly time-consuming endeavor and at times can be quite upsetting when attacked by an opponent. I am extremely proud of our candidates as they stayed the course and ran positive campaigns addressing the issues and their solutions to those issues while not giving in to the Democrats negative attacks. Thanks to them for being the example of leadership.

I also wanted to thank the Leadership of the Republican Party, the Milam County Tea Party Conservatives, and to the Republican Women of Milam County for their help, time, fundraising, and organizing. Without all these folks this election would not have had the positive results that it did.

Thanks also go out to those folks who hosted events, block walked, donated time or money, and generally “Got Out The Vote.” While the candidates were the ones who benefited from all this hard work, it is important to remember that their election was a team effort and will benefit us all in the end.

To get a start on the 2012 election, the Republican women of Milam County will be hosting their Reagan Day Dinner and Fundraiser February 10th, 2011. This will be held at the Cameron VFW starting at 6:00 pm. We will eat at 7:00 pm and our Special Guest Speaker will be Texas State Land Commissioner and Chairman of the Texas Veterans Land Board, Jerry Patterson.

If you have never heard Commissioner Patterson speak then you need to come out and experience it. He is definitely one of the most dynamic people in the Republican Party of Texas and in state government. Mark your calendars now for this event as it will definitely be a special night for us all.

See Ya Later,
Bill

October 16th & 17th Events

Hello My Friends,

Well it’s Friday and it must be close to the start of Early Voting. Want to know how I can tell. It’s simple really, the Rockdale Fair is in full swing, our county roads are getting worked on almost daily, and the Democrats have started hitting the papers with their ads spouting the untruths about what a Republican Victory will mean. Well I guess I should be happy though, at least their ads say “When Republicans Win” and not “If Republicans Win.”

Anyway, safe to say we are into the last few weeks before Election Day, Early voting starts Monday, and the Democrats here in Milam County are like all the others throughout the state and country – SCARED!

Now is the time to hit the accelerator and show Milam County a True Conservative. We had a tremendous start during the Primary but now we need to step it up and make our voices heard. To do that we need everyone’s help and you can show your support by getting out with us this Saturday and Block Walking in Cameron and Rockdale.

Tomorrow, Saturday October 16th, we will be meeting at 9:30 am to block walk from about 10:00 till lunch time. We will meet for donuts and handouts in Cameron at the Party Headquarters located on 106 S. Travis between Citizens National Bank and the First Baptist Church. In Rockdale we will meet at the old Wal-Mart Parking lot across from McDonalds. At both places we will have the aforementioned Donuts and Handouts to fuel you for the walk and supply you for the walk.

It should only take about an hour and a half to two hours and we will finish by lunch where we can all meet for Pizza, or whatever else we want to try. I know this is a busy Saturday with the fair, but it will only be about two hours and then you have the rest of the day. Last week we had a good showing in Cameron but only six folks in Rockdale, we need your help.

Sunday, October 17th at 1:00 pm, there will be a Meet and Greet at Big Bob’s Steakhouse in Cameron. Come out and meet the candidates and discuss the issues with them. Bob will be serving some of his finest Fried Catfish with all the trimmings so come on out and enjoy an afternoon of fine Conservative fellowship. Like always, everyone is invited!

Party Headquarters will be open each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from now until the election from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Come on in and pick up some signs, stickers, pamphlets, or come one in for some answers to your questions. We are here for you, so come on by and check us out.

We are entering the time when most people are making their choices as to who they will vote for and we all need to help each other. Yes it is the candidates who are running, but they are running to serve us all and as such county government is what you make of it. If you want Milam County to be strong then you need to get out and take some ownership of it by getting to know the candidates, supporting the candidates, and volunteering some time or money to help these campaigns that will help move Milam County forward. GETTING MILAM COUNTY BACK TO WORK is our motto and we believe it is what Milam County Government should be working for rather than of allowing it to stagnate as it has done for the last twenty years under the severe lack of leadership we have seen under many of these current Milam County Democrats.

I appreciate all the help we have gotten so far and hope to see everyone out Block Walking tomorrow or on October 30th when we have our final Saturday of County-Wide Block Walking. If you have any questions or concerns for me or any of the candidates, please feel free to contact me or go to our webpage at www.milamgop.org where you will find links to the emails of the candidates and the party leadership here in Milam County.

Thanks Again,
Bill

Monday night was the second of two wonderful events put on by two couples who are concerned about the direction of Milam County and want to make a difference in helping conservative Republicans win November 2nd.

Sunday Night Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Lister sponsored a Mexican Fiesta-Style Rally at their home in Maysfield complete with a band, folk dancers, and fireworks. Thanks you to the Lister’s for their hospitality.

Last night, October 11th, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Kubiak sponsored a Meet and Greet for Dave Barkemeyer and the rest of the Republican candidates at Taqueria Banda’s. About 70 people made their way to the event and spoke with candidates as the casual come and go function was a tremendous success. Thanks to the Kubiak’s for their generosity.

Remember, all the candidates have been out block walking and the response has been very positive to date. Now we need everyone’s help with this so if you have a chance, don’t miss out on the final two County-Wide Block Walks the 16th and 30th of October, both of these are Saturdays. We will meet at 9:30 am. We are working to make a real move towards a conservative County Government that will work better with our state and federal leadership. To do that we need to elect our Republican Candidates and support them during this election by donating to their campaigns, volunteering your time, or by bringing your friends and family to events to let them speak with the candidates directly.

Remember, October 19th is the Rally at Fair Park in Rockdale. We will be starting this about 6:00 at the New Salem Building at Fair Park in Rockdale. Everyone plan on attending and come out and meet your Republican Candidates. All of our local candidates will be there and I have invited all of our state and federal candidates as well.

If you’re in Cameron Sunday, October 17th, stop by Big Bob’s Steakhouse around 1:00 till 4:00 pm and enjoy some fried catfish with the candidates sponsored by Bob Terry and the Republican Women of Milam County.

Well, more later, Thanks to everyone for your support and help,
Bill

October 11, 2010 Update

Well, I figured with Election Day only three short weeks from now I better get this blog updated. Things are going well to date. All the candidates have been out block walking and the response has been very positive to date. Saturday, October 9th was the first County-Wide Block Walk and we had a pretty good turnout. Six block Walkers in Rockdale and 18 in Cameron.

We need everyone’s help with this so if you have a chance, don’t miss out on the final two County-Wide Block Walks the 16th and 30th of October, both of these are Saturdays. We will meet at 9:30 am. We are working to make a real move towards a conservative County Government that will work better with our state and federal leadership and to do that we need to elect our Republican Candidates by supporting them during this election by donating to their campaigns, volunteering your time or by bringing your friends and family to events to let them speak with the candidates directly.

Everyone plan on attending and come out and meet your Republican Candidates. All of our local candidates will be there and I have invited all of our state and federal candidates as well.

If you’re in Rockdale tonight, October 11th, stop by Banda’s Restaurant around 6:00 and enjoy dinner with the candidates sponsored by L. B. Kubiak; Should be a fun time.

Well, more later, Thanks to everyone for your support and help.

More tomorrow,

A "Conservative Democrat" - Part 2

So Bill White, a supposed “Conservative Democrat” wants your vote for him. Bill White wants you to believe that he is a true conservative, even though he was a willing advisor to Barack Obama during the 2008 presidential campaign; and since Obama’s election to the highest office in the land, Bill White has continued to advise Obama on a Cap and Trade policy that will cripple the Texas economy that is home to the number one business market of any state in America.

Bill White is a willing accomplice to the Obama agenda, an agenda that is as far from conservative principles as one can get. As talked about before, the days when someone could be a Conservative Democrat are over. But on top of that, Bill White has proven himself a liberal by his past stance on immigration, gun rights, abortion, and taxes. Many liberals try and make Bill White out to be a conservative, but it is only a smoke screen.

As Mayor, Bill White’s policies cut the number of law enforcement officers in Houston, allowed illegal immigration to flourish, and drove the city of Houston to near bankruptcy. These are the policies that are threatening our country based on the current policies pushed by the Barack Obama, the candidate Bill White endorsed and worked for in the 2008 presidential election. Bill White believed in these policies in 2008 and no matter what his campaign says in 2010, his beliefs in a liberal agenda cannot be hidden and will be put in place should he become Governor.

Texas is Strong, Independent, and Flourishing under conservative leadership that has led the way for a nation of states looking for leadership. So the question is, do you want Texas to continue to be a leader of the nation under the leadership of Rick Perry, David Dewhurst and Greg Abbott, or do you want to become a bankrupt state like California under the leadership of someone like Bill White?

This Week April 11 – April 17, 2010

Just wanted to touch base with everyone and let them know what is going on this week. Obviously, the April 13th runoff election is the most important thing of the work week. Get out and vote if you haven’t and let your voice, as well as the collective voice of the Republican Party of Milam County, be heard. The state took great notice of us during the primary and we have to continue that momentum in the runoff. I know it is not as interesting but it is important to Milam County that we are recognized for the effort.

Unhappily, Thursday is Tax Day; however, there are several Tea Party events out there to go to. Check out the Texas Tea Party site at http://www.teapartypatriots.org/State/Texas to find an event close by.

Saturday, April 17th, is the meeting of the Republican Party of Texas’ State District 5 in Caldwell at the Burleson County Expo Center. The expo center is on Hwy 36 about two miles south of intersection with Hwy 21. The meeting will begin at 9:30 am, with a sign-in and welcome. There will be a catered lunch at $15.00 a plate. Meetings will continue until 2:00 pm when everything will promptly end. This was originally to be held in Chriesman; however, the interest has become so great that a larger venue had to be secured. We need to assure Milam County has a large turn-out.

All the candidates for State Chairman will be there along with our state and locally elected representatives and candidates. Representatives from Governor Perry’s office will be there along with other dignitaries. This will be a time to meet your elected officials and the candidates vying for the opportunity to serve you. Come on out and meet them all.

Other than that, I hope everything goes well for each of you this week. In the coming weeks we will be getting with those interested in hosting candidates for meet and greets in your homes. This is a good way for the candidates to get together and meet you friends and families in an friendly setting rather than the generic public surrounding. If you’re interested in hosting one of these events please let me know.

Thanks Everyone,
Bill

Can a Democrat run for office as a Conservative?

Well, we’re halfway through the second week of early voting and we are really representing the Republican Party here in Milam County quite well. As of today voters have chosen the Republican Primary almost 39% of the time out of the total primary voting. Considering that historically Milam County Republicans have made up 13% of the primary vote, being at 39% is outstanding.

I guess that must be large parts of the reason so many of the Democrat Candidates here in Milam County are running claiming to be “True Conservatives.” Well, as someone who has been a conservative his whole life, I can tell you there is NO WAY you can be a conservative and truly run for office as a Democrat.

Just to clarify it for you, if you are running for office as a Democrat and you truly think you are a conservative then you are selling out your personal values and beliefs. A “True Conservative” could run as a Libertarian or an Independent, but not a Democrat.

So to those Democrats who are running ads claiming to be a “True Conservative,” I can assure you that conservatism is not just something you can claim to believe in. Conservatism is something you must prove with every action and choice you make. No Sir, Claiming to be a conservative and running as a Democrat in Milam County simply makes you an Opportunist.

Thanks,
Bill

We are the Republican Party of Milam County

Milam County Republicans are working for Milam County based on the values and principles of the people who live here and work here. We are beholding to the people of Milam County and not the national or state party.

The government in Washington D.C. has lost its way and taken the country in a direction that is not representative of what the framers of our constitution had in mind. To be honest, this is a situation that has existed for many years. To change this out-of-control government we must have strong conservative leadership; that leadership begins at the local level.

As the Republican Party of Milam County, our goal is to work to make Milam County government efficient, ethical, and cost-effective. We aim to work for an improved county-wide infrastructure and enhanced economic prosperity while retaining our community identity for the betterment of the county as a whole.

We are Republicans because we are Conservative. We are Conservative because we are from Milam County and those are the values we were raised with, live with, and believe in. Now is the time for Milam County residents to stand on those conservative values that represent us.
